Bought a Nikon AFS 24mm f1.8G ED

I bought this lens for my D2x to replace a 2.8 AF-D which wasn't cutting it.

Does anyone here use this lens?

Never had that lens, but I did use the f/2.8D version like you. Mine was the less desired plastic focus ring. Gave me a lot of sun flares.
