Bonsai

Hey all,
So this is my first foray into this forum - I've uploaded some shots into a members gallery but not sure how to link from here - if someone can advise, I'll post it up
The attached shot is from a recent visit to a botanical garden - there were several bonsai trees there from 30 - 70 years old & all miniature perfection but in a way, a little sad - I thought it must be quite lonely growing for so long on its own so I wanted to try & catch some of the perfect detail but some of the isolation at the same time.
EXIF info
D5100 - 18 - 55mm kit lens
f/7.1
1/500
ISO 800
22mm
Messed around a little with Snapseed to "brighten it up" a little - let me know what you all think.
Thanks.

I like the image very much. Buuuuuut, I would have included the lower border of the plant's tray. It seems cut off and the tray itself is very much part of what the bonsai is. I also would have included just a bit more space above the tree, because the eye starts from the top and works its way down and it is nicer to be able to roam a bit around the top without feeling crammed in :). Otherwise compositionally very nice.

Thanks for the feedback so far - a very useful exercise & I can see your point about the picture feeling crammed - I was going for a tight shot to fill the frame but I can see where having the space to explore the picture makes sense - thanks!

Nice bonsai tree. But I think it is over-sharpenned. The picture lost its integrity. Keep it as natural as possible, especially for earthy objects. :)
