Day #21

The first record album that I bought with my own money, working after school in my uncle's bakery in NJ in 1976.

And you chose well.

I see "Caress of Steel" peeking out in that shot... If not their best album (IMO) it certainly contains some eminently redeeming tracks. More importantly, the fact you have it in your possession only serves to confirm your discriminating musical taste.

Bravo, sir. Bravo indeed.

You're right about it not being their best, but back then you couldn't just download one or two songs and if it wasn't on a 45 you had to buy the whole album.
I needed 'Bastille Day" so I got the whole thing. Besides, the album artwork was worth the price by itself:eagerness:.

Oh I'm old enough to have bought vinyl. I remember 99 cent 45's fondly.

And obviously you didn't buy 'Steel for, "I Think I'm Going Bald". At least... I hope not. :D

Who said landscape was easy because it just sits still and waits for you to set up and shoot? I used to think so before I really got into it.
This shot would have been a 100 times more interesting if I could have been there at that spot about 15 seconds earlier. When I saw this out of my car window, the entire top of the mountain was bathed in light and reflected by the snow.. By the time I pulled over, and grabbed the camera (wasn't even in the camera bag) this is all that was left of that beautiful light.
At least I realized that if this was the situation 6 months ago, I would have totally missed the shot, because I would have been fumbling with settings. It has now become almost automatic.

Pete re my PM - this is another case of you throwing the thirds rule out of the window and still composing a beautiful shot.

Nearly half the image is sky which is not that exciting but emphasises the vastness of the mountains, which are a small part of the image.

The trees probably take up 1/3 of the photo but not exactly in the "right" place in terms of the rule of thirds.

That leaves 1/6th of the image taken up by the water.

All so wrong but all so right!!

Good shooting my friend.

Thanks for the compliment Lawrence.
Funny thing about the water. At first I was going to crop this shot at 16x9 like I normally do, and just do away with the water all together. I kept going back and forth with this, but I always came back to this shot. I did no cropping at all.

Like I said before when we were talking about the rule of thirds last week. I frame my shots the way it looks good to me. I'm not shooting for anyone else nor am I getting paid by someone to shoot.
This shot felt right to me when I took it, and it still felt right when processing. Don't get me wrong. It does make me happy if someone else likes my stuff, especially other photographers, and I do get excited when I see 10 or more likes on one of my images,, but it's not the end of the world if I don't.

I'm just happy to be alive and enjoying the time I have left.

The rule of thirds is a rule...just that!! and meant to be broken because no one has to stick to it because someone says it makes things better. It is like everything.....sometimes things just look good even tho they break all the supposed rules :D

At one of the workshops I attended, the instructor said the only rule is ---- There are no rules!! If it looks good to you, you did it right.

Great photos, loving your landscapes

Thanks Scott. I decided to give you a "best answer". Why did I do that? I dunno. Maybe one day you'll save me from the jaws of a blood thirsty frikkin' crock , and the only reason you'll do it, is because you'll remember that one day long ago I gave you a "best answer".:hopelessness:
