Your shots could benefit some post processing. They seem to lack saturation and contrast for my personal taste. Your's might vary. Here is the correction I would have done to the duck.

For the pelican, I don't see how the vignette improves the shot. It leaves no room around the subject and is more distracting than the unwanted background.

I recently just learn a little bit about PP and how to read histogram. However, I do not know color saturation. Where about can I read on this subject?

Google "free photoshop tutorials" will get you started. There are a few programs (some freeware) that can be used. But you have to know what you want to get first.
Browse into galleries of different photo forums and you will soon learn how to recognize good contrast and color balance and saturation.
There is no magical recipe, just practice. Try and learn.
