OH, Haaaaaa. I thought you were going to show just the torso or something. Looks like a dove, but I am not sure which one. Let me sleuth it out.
Well, on second thought, without me looking up anything......

Eurasion collard dove or something like that name. I just saw the black band on the neck.
We don't have those here, so I am guessing base on other images I have seen on here.

Well it was up long enough , and its difficult to judge how much parts to show, when you know what it is already.
So yes that ones Eurasian collared dove.

I don't think they are unfair. I just have very limited bird knowledge, but you giving some hints is helping me learn. For example, you just used the word "down." I am like, that bird looks kinda "fuzzy." Also, saying that there is no "down" in that species gave me something new to consider, nomenclature wise, that I wouldn't have used to look for a bird. I know birds have down, but I never considered it in idnetification until now.

I hate being a well educated ignoramus, but that is my lot in life. ;)
To a degree, ,, there is always an amount of legit uncertainty , IMO. But one need not be stymied by it . You're using characteristics , location , and so forth to arrive at a summary answer. A terrific approach compared to just trying to rely on recognition alone , which is full of pitfalls. You won't have to endure the immense number of deserved spankings I received for being sloppy.

I've never seen one in flight, but I'm going with Black Crowned Night Heron.
