I just bought this pack and I love it! I travel to a lot of crime ridden areas, and the thing I hate about camera bags is that they all look like camera bags. When I saw this, I thought it would work better than the black Lowepro bag I have, and i when it arrived, I fell in love with it. The bottom half is padded and I have my body with 18-300dx, 70-200 2.8, two small prime lenses, plus SB-800. Still a little room left.
The top portion doesn't have as much padding, but it does have some because there is a sleeve in the front for a laptop. Well enough for 13 inch, and probably even 15 inch. You can access it from the top, or a zipper along the side.
There are two pop-out water bottle holders, two large pockets on the bottom portion with a flap over them and two smaller pockets. One more additional large pocket on the flap that covers the upper compartment.
Lower straps are perfect for strapping on a tripod, and there are several other rings and webbings you could attach more things to.
It is very comfortable, but it doesn't have a waist strap, so all the weight is on your upper body. It isn't as comfortable as a well made hiking backpack with a semi-rigid frame, but it is quite comfortable for the price which was $80.
