Backpack/rucksack

Hi

I need a bag for my flashes, lenses, and body plus pockets for other bits and pieces.
The trouble is that they are so expensive and I understand I will need something strong enough in case of impact etc.

Can anyone recommend a fairly decent backpack that doesn't cost the earth?

I just bought this pack and I love it! I travel to a lot of crime ridden areas, and the thing I hate about camera bags is that they all look like camera bags. When I saw this, I thought it would work better than the black Lowepro bag I have, and i when it arrived, I fell in love with it. The bottom half is padded and I have my body with 18-300dx, 70-200 2.8, two small prime lenses, plus SB-800. Still a little room left.

The top portion doesn't have as much padding, but it does have some because there is a sleeve in the front for a laptop. Well enough for 13 inch, and probably even 15 inch. You can access it from the top, or a zipper along the side.

There are two pop-out water bottle holders, two large pockets on the bottom portion with a flap over them and two smaller pockets. One more additional large pocket on the flap that covers the upper compartment.

Lower straps are perfect for strapping on a tripod, and there are several other rings and webbings you could attach more things to.

It is very comfortable, but it doesn't have a waist strap, so all the weight is on your upper body. It isn't as comfortable as a well made hiking backpack with a semi-rigid frame, but it is quite comfortable for the price which was $80.

Check ebay UK for a used lowepro, I got mine for $70 US which was great since retail was $325 or so. Looked new and works great although I never wear it as a backpack just use it for hauling lots of gear.

I use a 15 dollar duck call bag with no padding that has been modified from a waist rig to bandolier style rig...

I use never ready cases for the 50, 85, and 105, and keep the 28 mounted and scale focused to get everything after 5 feet at f8 in decent light usually around 200 ISO and a similar shutter speed...everything including the camera and 28, battery charger, and light meter fit...and I can change lenses with it faster than you can shake a stick at...

And I'll knock you out with it if you try to snatch it from me! And it won't hurt anything except your nogging!

I have traveled 1000's of miles in many different countries and states with it and it has never let me down once...

I got a Lowepro Flipside Sport AW 15L, has some great features.. but is a bit expensive. £100. But when mountain biking or hiking a £100 to help protect £2000 seems sensible to me. It could be designed with better ergonomics, but it works well as a camera bag.

I did post a couple days ago and it said it was awaiting moderator approval, but it never showed up. Sorry for being late, but I just bought this one from Amazon and it is great! Holds body, four lenses, flash, 5 pockets for filters, batteries, etc. Plus a laptop compartment and another large compartment for what ever else would want to take a long.
