Too cute Woody. What species?

Swallow, and I'm pretty sure Barn Swallow, but I didn't see the parents. There were also Violet-green Swallows in the area.

Its an american coot , the parent came out of the weeds a few minutes later .. my books didnt have anything this young represented , so I figured it would be a tough-y ,, and at first I said to myself ..'!?'

Not the best as it was getting dark with my old D300. But the VR on my Nikon 200-500 help save them. Except the pixels that my D300 give when it gets dark.

I believe at the beginning both help, but at this stage, I think it's mom's job. Just guessing though.

Haven't been to Green Cay in months except for pit stop. Also heard about a gator nest where the eggs never hatched. Well, they finally hatched about a week ago, which I didn't know until that day. Only had the D5100 with the 18-200mm lens, so these are not great shots.

I see six juvies.
