The Dude
Since we moved to a small town at the base of the Absorka-Beartooth range there has been a White Tail doe with a hurt leg wondering though our backyard along with her two yearlings. Over time her leg has been progressively getting worst as her belly continued to get bigger and bigger. I last saw her 2 days ago and it was clear she would be giving birth very soon. So it wasn't too surprising when she showed up today without her two yearlings and instead had two new fawns following behind her.
In the second photo you can see her hurt foot. I'm not sure what happened to her but it's definitely getting worse. Talking with our new neighbors, they all acknowledge that feeding the deer in town is illegal but yet all (including us, shhhh, don't tell anyone) have been leaving food out for this particular doe. She made it through this last heavy winter but I doubt she'll make it through the next one with her leg the way it is.
It's going to be fun watching her two new twins grow in the following weeks and months. Hopefully they'll stick around and I'll have a chance to capture their growth. Fingers crossed

Newborn....I noticed mom was standing on the side of the nest so when she took off I did a quick check. This chick was not there when I had checked about 2 hours earlier.
