Babies, Babies, Babies

My neighbor and I were driving through Middle Creek WMA on the tour road and somehow, I have no idea how, she spotted this little baby turtle under the water and half buried in the mud. How she spotted it I will never know. She had to point it out to me and it still took me a while to find it once we got out of my truck. Such a cute little one I wish it was not under the water so it would be a clearer shot. But it is what it is.

I found these little guys, or gals, at Wildwood Lake Park in Harrisburg, PA. They are literally smaller than a quarter. When I first spotted the first one I was not sure what it was. I thought it was part of the log. I had to look through my lens to see it was really a turtle. Each one I could not see it was a turtle until I looked through the lens. I am glad the Nikon 200-500 focuses so close. None of them were with their mother. I would think this small they would not be on their own yet. But each one was alone that I could tell. So cute.

After about five minutes of this, I turned to leave, then I saw the fish come out of one mouth and almost in to the other, but it was dropped and the lucky juvie Great Egret in the nest below had an unexpected treat.
