I have many Lightroom Catalogues and was getting lazy with my backups when exiting Lightroom so thought I'd put in place a process that would backup my entire Lightroom Catalogues automatically everytime I logoff/shut down my PC (Yes, PC, sorry this doesn't work with a MAC).
So, I've got in place a logoff script that Mirrors my catalogues to my NAS (works with external hard drives/usb sticks too). As it's a Mirror, it only copies changed files so logoff is still very quick.
This means I can just shutdown my PC and never have to worry about my catalogues being backed up.
If anyone is interested in using the same method, I wrote a blog on my website that explains how I did it.
It can be found at http://www.craigrogers.photography/?p=1032
