Here is a new attempt from yesterday. Two year olds are so viciously difficult to make stand still for more than a few seconds... not her problem though. :p

Here my daughter is sipping her juice. Any hope with the picture?

Hmm, I'll need to check my monitor calibration. I was under the impression that the image is bright and highlights hot, but not blown. Reduction to web size and JPEG compression might worsen the problem. But as I said, I saw the texture on the hat and jersey in the original. I'll calibrate my monitor just to be safe, and re-evaluate. Thanks.

Peter, don't go changing anything on your monitor on my account. It may very well be MY monitor that's different. Others may see an entirely different picture on their monitors. Who knows! Like I said, I think it's a great shot, so it may just be the way it shows on my monitor. All I can do is tell you what I see and pass it on to you.
And yes, I think you're right about resized jpegs. It probably does worsen the problem.

I love this shot! Getting good captures of 2-yr olds falls into the same category as shooting wildlife or your pets . . . sometimes you just gotta take what you can get. You can certainly improve some things in pp. It seems that you exposed for her face, rightfully so, but her bright clothing (was it white?) ended up overexposed --kind of like "brides in sunlight". I would try (in PP) lowering the exposure to try to get back some of the detail in her clothing and then use a brightening tool (brush in lightroom) to then lighten her face. Also, the recovery slider in lightroom helps a lot in shots like this.

You may want to consider using fill-in flash for shots like this. Nikon's Creative Lighting System is pretty awesome!

Thanks for comments. I reprocessed the image and edited the link above. I tamed down the highlights maybe a third of a stop. Very high brightness was what I was looking for, or almost a glow. Thank you for critique.
