I remember reading some article where he is okay with removing things like sweet(candy) wrappers and such movable objects.
An example he gave was a landscape where he only noticed the wrapper after opening the picture for editing, So he removed it but not the big boulder on the side because that he would not have been able to remove.

I like this approach to minipulation, No heavy duty Photoshopping.
