anybody use a camera holster? spider or other

I want it for a specific time of the weddings I shoot, which is when the guests arrive. I usually do my sniping with an 85 1.8D or the 70-200 to catch candid but I also need another camera with my 28-70 AFS because there are times I need to shoot a few people together and need a wide FL. I have the D3s/70-200 around my neck and the D3/28-70 AFS on my right shoulder, but that annoys me as the swinging and constant adjusting from it slipping off ruins my flow and I want to free my shoulder and have it at my waist. I dont want to run back to my bag all the time because in some venues it can be some walk away. I do also have a waist belt with big pouches I use when I shoot the ceremony and need to change lenses but I want something just for this part of the wedding.

not very interested in a black rapid type strap. I used that for 2 weddings and its not for me.

if you do use it, would like to know:
1-how long have you had it
2-if the release lever caused issues when u were stressed to catch a shot and it didnt release freely
3-what gear you use it with

I was watching the demo of the spider holster at WPPI, and it is a very convenient way of carrying an additional camera. Quick and at the ready when you put your hand down and can pull up the camera within a few seconds.

what gear do u use it with @Bill16 ?

was it a bit unnerving at first to have it hanging like that? haha

was wondering if I could even go down to the plastic spider black widow vs the spiderpro. or actually I dont know what that AIG holster is in the video, but it looks like an exact clone to the spiderpro.

I have no doubt my spider pro holster would hold your setup! I use it with my D700 with battery grip and my d300 with battery grip and it easily held it fine without even a concern at all! :D

Now the plastic version is unknown to me!

I've been on the fence since I have the Carryspeed and a Thinktank holster. I like the coolness of it, but I don't need it (although that never stopped me before!). Maybe, I really like the pro pad also, I think it would hold it at a better working height. If I were an event shooter with 2 bodies, it looks very handy. I will probably end up with it.

I thought of the cotton carrier when I read this thread. I have the chest mount and a mount that I can attach to a backpack strap. I like them because it's one hand in and out and they don't "dangle" as much while in the holster.

But looking at the videos you've posted, the cotton carrier seems like an older system and just bulky compared to those. The last concert I attended I did see a photographer that used a cotton carrier belt holster for a second body and a chest mount for his DSLR with 70-200. He seemed to move in and out of both bodies very well.

I'm thinking more on this now as it would be convenient for hiking. I bring a small tripod and carry it over the shoulder with a strap, camera on the belt would be convenient. I like the thinktank system for carrying a lot of gear on serious shooting trips, this would be a better light, good weather setup.

The more I look at the pro-clip, it seams to be better suited for a lighter setup. I may get it for my Oly gear, but Fx might not be ideal.

I have a Think Tank holster 30 v2.0 which fastens to a waist belt--it holds my D610 and 70-200mm f/2.8. I'm not all too fond of it though because the camera/lens combo won't fit in the holster all the way when the tripod foot is attached. If I leave the tripod foot attached, then I am unable to zip the holster closed completely. Without the tripod foot, it fits in fine, but the lens then hangs by the lens mount which puts more stress on the mount than I'd prefer. Since I use it for taking theater photos and need the tripod foot for the tripod, I find myself just carrying the original case until I arrive there and get set up.
