It is not really a "analog" vs "digital", here, but rather a question of material which the sensor is made of. The old, very old light meters are built around selenium, whereas newer use silicon or arsenic-phosphorus cell (sensor).
Selenium light meter does not require any power supply to run (light itself sets it into action).The problem with the selenium is that it evaporates with the time, thus becoming inaccurate (after a few years of usage). The other materials are more durable, but such meters require battery to run.
Sekonic is a trustworthy brand, and I guess you can rely upon 158's calculations. Just remember that ASA=ISO (basically), and that's it...
"be on the lookout for" any newer model(s) of Profisix/ Lunasix, for "general" usage http://goo.gl/oC57WO or some spot-light metering units, but these are going to cost you lot:
