Amazed at how little I find on the Z8's video abilities

Had this camera for almost a year now and I see it as a video Beast. N-raw, subject detection, manual focus override, 2nd ISO of 4000, Balances well on a gimbal, hand holds nicely with it's vibration control, no heat timeout as highlights. I'm shooting Blackmagic b-raw, Canon c-raw, and Sony S-log and this Nikon is right there in the running in regard to image quality. It grades very nicely in Davinci Resolve. I tempted to say it is the truest to color of all the cameras I shoot with. It also has the best low light performance with ISO 4000. I'm really surprised that the net is flush with Canon, Sony, and Panasonic chatter regarding mirrorless video and tiny whispers on the Nikon.

Anyway felt drawn to post this. Really glad I went with this camera.

Jordan Drake at PetaPixel has been singing the Z8 video praises since it was first reviewed.


But I am a terrible videographer so my interest in the Z8 is almost exclusively for still photography. Wish I could talk my employer into a cost-of-living raise so I could afford one. Making exactly the same as 2018 and inflation has killed my discretionary spending the past 18 months.

Sorry to hear about you're income although I get it. My wife teaches and her income is pretty much stagnant, I'm on SS and pensions and SS increase was 2.5% this year, lol. Not what I've seen in the grocery store.

BTW, thanks for posting that video. I had not found that. I agree with them especially per video. Good to hear it on the net!!!!
