No it has a wheel you can control the light between 1 and 10, it was on 1.

So does it flash as well as just shed light? I was looking at one of these in my local camera store. Looks great for macro pictures. looked on line ( you tube ) and found some info on it but first hand experience is always better than the promo video. So you like it? What lens are you using with it?

Yes you can us it as a speed lite, as to lenses, it comeswith adjustable rings so you can use it with all kinds of lenses. I mostly usewith a 50mm lens, and a 18mm-55mm. or my 28-105mm.

Thanks Curt. I saw the lens adapters when I was looking at it. They said that it does up to a 77 mm lens though I don't know if it creates any problems with the outer edges of the picture.

The unit is pretty cheap (under $50.00) and it is great forMacro and portrait work.
It does work as a speed lite and you can adjust the poweroutput with a few different sets.
I think for the money it is really well worth looking into.I use my a lot.
