Had some low land river flooding this weekend caused by the heavy rain and ice. This is the boat launch most of the time. Oh it was a little foggy.

I believe by the size of the tail it is a Vole. The tail is too short for a mouse. It stalked it in the weeds for about 5 minutes. This is cropped pretty hard but you can see it better here.

Moles also have short tails but they live underground. Even its teeth look like a moles.

And now someone will tell me that a Vole is simply a misspelling of Mole!

This does not seem to have the feet of a Mole. I have had both in my gardens over the years and moles have much larger feet. Either way I never saw one catch a mammal, although I knew they did.

Middlecreek Lake. Look close along the lake and mountain ridge the white is estimated to be about 2000 Tundra Swans. Second picture is some of them along with some Black Ducks.
