Thanks Rog it is a great lens and will equivalent to around 900mm on the 7100 so a might long reach - great choice though!

All you need to do Traceyjj is google pay&view near "name of airshow" and it should bring up options. £15 is a lot better than £200 and I had the joy of being able to sit/stand next to my car so when it did rain I could sit in the dry!

jay_dean - I was in Rhymes, a great venue with superb views if not perhaps a tad close at times - not complaining though!
I've often considered Rhymes, and Trotterdown. However, I've been going to the show for years now and don't know if i could stop, although i wouldn't miss my 1.30am set off time. Call it a habit i suppose. Although, i'd love to stay over do the departures. Did you have to get there really early for a good spot?

Hi jay_dean, these images were taken on the Fri and I arrived about 0930hrs, there was plenty of room and spaces free - they did say that Sat & Sun would mean a 0730 arrival to get a place!

Fri worked for me and I got images I am happy with (full set on my site at this link - 571 Photography), it was a shame that the Vulcan did not fly on Fri but I have got images from previous shows.

Great site at an affordable price though!!

Interesting info, thanks for that. The aircraft forums can be a bit vague and conflicting about those areas. I get there for 5am for a half decent front row spot, but the corporate/enclosure areas seem to be encroaching on the standard ticket holders space. I guess they're trying to force more people to upgrade at the eye-watering prices they charge.

Hi Rog,

I was shooting manual and used a constant aperture of f8 throughout as it is the optimum for this lens for sharpness, the IQ on the large Tiffs (90mb) is stunning and I cannot fault it but I did not want to shoot wide open on the day as my first outing with the lens for a serious trial.

I have to 2nd what you have had to say. I shot and air show here in the USA with my Tamron 150-600 on a D7100, while I had a 70-200 on my D7200. I got some fantastic images with the 150-600. Here is one. I don't want to hijack your thread with my photos :). GREAT SHOTS!

Thats a great shot Russell and demonstrates just how versatile this lens is as well as how well suited it is for air shows.

Nice one and thanks for sharing.
