Those using Affinity 2 this update released 2/20 introduces the object selection tool. Be sure to watch the video on the Affinity site on the way it works. From some quick experiments I have done it seems to work very well.

I think this is getting Affinity ever more refined and closer to the competition

I also use Infinity Photo and what is becoming really concerning for me now is that sooner or later Adobe is going to come along with their big fat cheque book and make the Canva, owners of Affinity software, an offer that can't be refused - and we all know where that will end.

I see the concern, all we can do is support the product (when its appropriate and going the correct direction) and hope for resilient owners wishing to do the best thing instead of the most lucrative thing.

I know I'm potentially annoyingly optimistic :) but if they swing a way that's not workable for me I'll go back to open source (free) processing.

I try to keep up with the open source projects, but I always swing back to Affinity as my understanding improves over time. I'm pretty certain award winning photos can be created with free software. Affinity and for that matter Adobe make things "easier" for all of us.

Its great to see these opinions as its the only way the companies know how we feel and what we are willing to tolerate.

All the best
