Added a D750 to the bag.

I wanted really really bad to get a D500. I had my hands on one, played with it, and was committed. Then, as fate would have it, a coming long term photo gig presented itself and as much as I wanted the D500 with it's really impressive high ISO I ultimately had to pull the trigger and add another full frame to the mix. No purchase is ever without regrets, D500's fps, but the ISO noise or lack of is nothing short of amazing at very high ISO on the D750. It's insane how good digital is getting. Until putting my hands on one I would not have believed how good it could be.

Anyway, that's my random musings on the D750 if someone was considering one.

How are the ergonomics of the D500 compared to the D750? It looks to be closer to the D8xx in feature layout and size, so curious how close it handled to the D750?

Two entirely different animals. The D500 is interchangeable with the D8xx series while the D750 is interchangeable with my D7100's and D600.

Congrats George. That's a hard call. Both are great cameras.
I would love either but right now I would settle for subjects to shoot. We have had so much rain these last 2 weeks that I have cabin fever.

It's funny. Living in the desert I long for rain to shoot. You are dying of cabin fever due to rain. I guess we are never happy with what we got. :)

Congratulations on the D750. I absolutely love mine. The low light low noise at high ISO is incredible. The ability to recover shadow details makes it great to shoot those bright skies and shoot it to get the beautiful sky and then recover the dark areas better than any camera I have seen.

With the button layout, I get that. My problem (probably too strong of a word) with the D750 was that it was significantly slimmer than the D7100 and D610, and ended up being uncomfortable for me after a day's worth of shooting. I like the wider grip of the D7100/D610, so that was one of the things I was looking for with the D810. Is the D500 the newer/more slender packaging of the D750, or does she still retain the thickness of the D7100/D610?

Yup. If I could change anything about my D750 I too would give it a chunkier body like the D610/D7100. I wouldn't call the D750's ergonomics a problem either, per se, because the ergonomics of the D750 aren't BAD, it's just that I too prefer the wider, more hand-filling feel I get from the D600/D7100. I have pretty good sized mitts, though, so that may have something to do with it. People with smaller to average sized fists probably find the ergo's of the D750 far more appealing.

The comfort side of the equation on came into play since I was intending to use this for wedding photography. Hands down, the D750 was technically much better than the D610. if it wasn't for the extended time hand carrying the body around, and the way my hand complained afterwards, it would have been a no-brainer for me.
