A very hard time for my family

Sorry to hear the now extended timeline, but keep the positive thoughts up friend! There is still a timeline for her to come home, and it's still relatively short compared to never. Still praying for you and yours...

Like Pretz said, it's a timeline ... which is just that and nothing more ... a plan. Stay positive and keep strong, plans aren't definite and most professionals like to plan conservatively and see things done sooner rather than tell you something will happen in two weeks and then keep slipping it out from there. You both are in our thoughts and prayers.

Hard news to bear, Bill, but truly better than alternatives. Three months is a long time, but not nearly as long as you would think when you're on the back end of it. As has been said, you now have a schedule, which is better than hearing, "We really don't know how long."

Hang in there.

As others have said in so many ways, hang in there, Bill....we're all pulling for you and your family. Prayers are with you and yours. Hopefully she'll be out of there sooner.

I have an idea of how to try to cheer up a bit. She like birds, and there were birds she watched from her old room there at trinity. So I'm going to try and get some shots of them. If I can get a nikkor 80-400mm lens, I'll use that, since it will give me the best chance of getting some shots. But if I can't get one fairly soon, I'll try to make the best of it using my Nikkor 70-300mm listed in my signature.
I'm not a bird fan except for birds like hawks and owls, but my beloved likes a lot of birds. So I'll do my best to get some shots from the area she saw them at.:)

Thank you all for your heartfelt empathy. It's a real blessing to my beloved and I. :)

Well I told my beloved about buying the lens today, and survived! Lol :D

But the best news was that the previous estimate of how long my love will have to stay in the rehab is unlikely. My love told me that though there is no real date, that the doctor say it shouldn't be that long. So both of us are hoping that it will be sooner rather than later. :)

My beloved also loved the idea of getting some shots of the birds, and we can do it together as soon as she's no contagious and my lens gets here! :D

VERY glad to hear she might go home sooner than expected. That is always good news! :) Sounds like that lens will make for a magnificent combo on your D300. Even though you pine for a D700, the DX crop factor will be quite a benefit with that lens. Have fun with it and enjoy! And please say hello to your lovely wife.

Yes I want the D700, but not to replace the D300. I want it to go with the D300. I'm not giving up the advantages of having a DX crop sensor when I can use it when needed! Lol :D

I'm a new guy here, but have been following this thread. Wishing you and your beloved the best, Bill. Should we all take bird pics and post them up here so she can see them - would that help? I'm no photography expert and certainly have no 'rare birds' around here, but would be happy to try and get some good (tolerable) shots and share them, if you thought that would help.

I think it would be a fantastic gift for your beloved if you took a great shot, and sent it out to get a print made, then framed it for her?
What do you think?

Lol first I'll have to somehow get that great shot, and this being my first try at shooting birds! Lol But since I really like your idea, I'll likely do that when I manage getting a great shot. I'm trying to think positive. Lol :D
