A poll (sort of) for you Tamron 150-600 owners

Hi,

I wanted to do a poll, but I can't see a way how :(

I'm quite close to getting a 150-600 and I think I like the Tamron, but have concerns about the freeze issue I've heard about, so as people mostly post when they have an issue rather than not I thought I'd do a quick poll to see how bad it really is.

Thanks for any feedback.

From what i can tell the freeze is for most owners a very occasional thing, for a few like me it was too often and i ended up returning my lens,i dont have a long lens at the moment and had no intention of getting one due to health issues. You may have noticed i said had no intention :D,long lenses are a drug and ime addicted, even if it only gets occasional use it looks like i will get another.
Which one is the frustrating question, like you i now run the D750 so in theory want/need the longest possible but not if that involves problems,we all have our own opinion which of the two 150-600s is the best (2 if you discount the sigma sport) my money for IQ is still with the Tamron.
Dont be surprised though if i buy the Sigma or even the Sigma 50-500,just cant answer yet which i would get, that should tell you how much respect i had for the Tamron.

The freeze is not that bad and it happens once in a while. I seem to have less issues during the summer than during the winter. Don't ask me why.

While it only occasionally freezes, it still implies you're not certain of any shot you want to take. There's simply no guarantee it will focus which, in a way, is as bad as it can get.

If the question was; would you buy it again, the answer would be no. But these days there are more options than when I got it.

Mine freezes on occasion. Seems to be when it can't lock focus. Now that I know that, I stop and wait a bit. If I don't wait and it freezes, I just shut off the camera and count to ten. So far I haven't lost any "to die for" shots.

Mine only froze a couple of times in the few months that I had it. I had a bigger problem with mine needing too much AF adjustment at 600mm that forced me to return it. I'm assuming that's a copy-to-copy issue.

Like one of the occasions i took the sigma 50-500 out when the tamron was away, stood there doing my testing before setting off and it would not focus, did everything switched of and on took the lens off, started to think the Tamron must have been ok and it was my camera, then i remembered i had changed to BBF the day before.:D
