Well as you all probably know my wife Katie loves cooking and baking and I love taking photo of her cakes.... I just think food (especially sweet stuff) is so photogenic.

Anyway sorry for keep posting these but I can't help taking them and like to share. (well the photo not the cake :smile-new:)

This cake was just a trial for one she is planning but thought it looked nice and yummy on the plate. This was totally unplanned I was about to eat it when I thought ..... this might make a good photo :p

It looks delicious!

I did a little work on the image, I hope you don't mind. It looks very washed out and overexposed to me

No I don't mind you tinkering at all, but it must be my monitor as your edit looks really dark to me....

Does it look washed out to others ?

That has me concerned my monitor is not calibrated but all the prints I have had from photos I have edited on my monitor are OK

Nice job John...

Thank you.....

I like the original best, doesn't look washed out to me and I agree, the edited version is way to dark.

Mmmmm Cake. Guess you can shoot your cake and eat it too :)

On my end, the initial images do appear overexposed.

So some say it is overexposed others say its not...

I think the plate is a little bright but on my screen it all looks OK. I have had many prints and photo books produced from my computer and they always look fine

Its not easy, lol. Okay I looked at it in PS, gave it 10% highlight - if you look at the blue line at the plate, behind/right side of the cake, thats a tiny bit bright. It also gave a little darkness for the cake in the back.

I like the picture as it is, it looks like a summercake to me. And I could definitely still eat that yummi piece, cant believe its still standing there ;-)
