Tonight, I had planned on catching up my thread now that we have internet. The wife and I are on a photography trip in the great northwest of the U.S. (lower 48 states) and internet and cell phone signal have not quite stayed up to par with many other parts of the county. However, we have real internet while we're here in this town which I have to believe turned out to be a blessing of God's making.
A couple of days ago, my daughters former boyfriend, and a young man my wife and I had mentored, was tragically killed in a horrible car accident. As I said, the wife and I have been out of town when I got a call tonight around midnight from my daughter. Our church, where this young man attended, is trying to get pictures together for a slide presentation and need them first thing in the morning (a few hours from now). Just as I sat down to edit two photos and get caught up (midnight) I got the call asking if I have any photos, any photos at all. Fortunately I never erase any photos. And the blessing that my wife and I stopped for the next couple nights in a town with usable internet. My daughter with my guidance was able to locate the old raw files I had shot of this young man and using DropBox.com was able to transfer them to me. I've now spent a couple hours editing photos, it's now 0330 in the morning, but through the power of modern technology the family will now have these photos that have become more valuable than gold to this family.
On the personal side, oh how it sucks to sit here and edit photos on a young man that you cared about knowing he is gone. I'm just thrilled that my photography, and stopping in the right town for the night, I was able to do something for this family.
Anyway, that is my tired ramblings and tomorrow I will get caught up on both sleep and my thread.
