I have already told them they can order prints at Zenfolio, I am also available to print up to 18 X 24 on my designjet for collages etc, you sound like you miss it?

I did enjoy it but there are a few annoying things with it....Some of the Mums would order images then not pick them up...I still have images from 2 years back, some made arrangements to meet somewhere and never did....
Plus a few other things...

That's why I love Zenfolio, no waste for me and I don't have to talk with them again.

A few years ago I also shot a couple of dance concerts. I would do a 4x6 individual photo and a 5x7 group. Then put them into a memory mate photo frame. The group would include all the dancers.
This was all done using a film camera so I had to go to a local processing gallery and they would print up the photos according to instructions that I had given them. It was good money back then.
My daughters grew out of dancing and eventually the studio stopped teaching.

I have the Sigma version. Use it mostly for indoor basketball and other sports events. Great pics and a lot less money than the Nikon. I really like the lens. I also have the 24-70 f2.8 love that lens. A bit heavy but excellent photos.

Kent, the one thing that was good about the film days was the images were more permanent, now days the clients think everything is easy to change in the digital world and most believe anything can be changed or done in Photoshop!

I think I would wear out my camera inside of a year if I had any of the aforementioned lenses. I was looking at my D5000 shutter actuation count the other day...got the camera in like February with 5000 clicks...I had 16K last week. Only 3 keepers in the whole bunch...must be the lenses I am using...LOL :)

Bill - FWIW, I've tried a lot of lenses including the Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 VRI which I sold to get the VRII. Based on my experience with the VRI using my ex-D700, the center is pretty sharp but the VRII is just much sharper throughout including the corners. You can see vignette if your background has a lighter color but this clears as you stop down the lens. I bought mine when Nikon was offering a rebate which I purchased with my D7000. I ended up getting a $500 discount since the prices went up after that offer which was right after the Tsunami here in Japan.

Re: Sigma 70-200mm f2.8. It is an alternate zoom lens. Slightly less sharp than the VRI and much lighter and cheaper. The 80-200mm f2.8 is also a good cheaper alternative but you are better off with the VRI.

As mentioned by Mojodave, I would suggest investing on the Nikon 85mm f1.8G when the lighting becomes challenging. It is also a nice light welcome addition to your arsenal.

Of all the lenses that I have, I cannot live without my Nikon 24-70mm f2.8 and 70-200mm f2.8. They are my go to lenses. The rest are just nice to have for my general type of photography. Just like what you are learning, this is a very expensive hobby. If you have not purchased an additional 2tb hard drive yet, might as well get one soon.

I am up to three 2tb hard drives plus use Godaddy online storage. Being paid helps buying this glass, I do see additional future use like a receptions etc.

It's hard to just jump in to a thread like this, but anyway.....

I use my 70-200mm f/2.8 VRII for about 70% of my work. It's my bread and butter and a lens that I can rely on at all times. Some lenses are great and some are so amazing that they really shine and for me the 70-200mm is a standout lens that shines and never lets me down. I do all my head shot and beauty work with it and I simply love it.

There, I said it. :)

Don't forget your tripod to rest it on, the rehearsal can go on and on and on if the teacher is a perfectionist as most are...

First shots with my new (used) 70-200 f2.8 VR, lens is a monster! Handheld means I don't need to go to the gym anymore, just shoot pics.

You are making the hummingbirds starve just so you could buy this lens??? Tsk tsk LOL

Congratulations Bill!

I think they ate all the food and migrated, had a few mornings in the mid 30"s already, but yes I do need to give up something for the lens, kinda a fasting experience.
