@traceyjj

I may have said this already and I may say it again (being forgetful as I am careless to be), but fine job on inspiring the 52 Projects for 2015. There is some fine photography appearing in the threads.
Thanks :) Couldnt have done it without your help though :) I'm hoping to not fall behind with liking/commenting on others work, as well as taking/processing my own, but my mum was rushed into hospital again over the weekend with complications from her chemotherapy, so I'm having to put my hobbies/wants on the back burner until we know whats happening :(

maybe a silly question, are we limited to 1 photo per week/theme?
I think it would be good to do one per week, but thats not always possible. I have built into my "guidelines" that I may not be able to produce one every week, but WILL have done them all by the end of the year. I may also want to revisit a theme if I find a "better" fit later on, but I havent decided how to deal with that yet.

I have allso ask myself the question what to do if i find a picture later that i prefer, decided i would just add it to the thread with a note, you cant really change the original one as some one may have liked it that doesn't like the new one.

We'll keep your mom in our daily prayers. Hope she's well real soon.

Dividing the question:

On photos per week, seems it would depend on how one structured their project. If not aiming for knocking out a theme per week but just aiming to do all by December 31, then it follows that one would be shooting multiple themes in some weeks to catch up or get ahead and some weeks not shooting anything.

On photos per theme, seems it would depend on whether the idea is to offer the best photo for the week or if the general idea is "works in progress". One approach I plan to try is starting a week with a Nikonite theme in mind and working it for the week and the same with my Technique list. I can see I might want to post multiple shots, especially on the Technique list.

As there is no prize and a very lose destination of what a 52 is every one will have a lot of freedom to fill there thread with pictures, its better to bend the rules than drop out,my answer is stick with the basic concept but in the end do what ever you need to do to still be posting at the end of the year.

As an absolute newbie I have opted for the structured approach I.e. One photo a week, using standard list albeit varying the week projects from the list is completed. In the event I cannot complete in a particular week then I will try to catch up. In my case the aim is to improve all round skills. None the less the project in not strict and if others wish to submit more than one picture on a regular basis they should be free to do so.

It's the end of 9 full weeks or the middle of the 10th week depending on how one counts their time. I've been wandering through all of he 52's. Some nice work being offered up.

I was slipping behind on my Technique 52, but blasted out several to pull even with the timeline. That's one thing I like, is you can be a month and a half behind, but that's only 5 shots.

introduction and guidelines for nikonites 52 photos in 2015

introduction
first and foremost, this is a fun project. It shouldn't be stressful. It is aimed at stretching the imagination, and ultimately improving our images in some way. All themes can and should be stretched to the max to provide interesting and varied images of each theme.

general guidelines

keeping with the purpose and this being a nikon place, the primary camera(s) used should be nikon. Sometimes though, the right camera for the shot may be something else. That’s ok for a minimal number of photos.

we have provided a nikonites list. It is up to the member if they want to used this list or create their own.

the themes can be tackled in any order.

as the year wears on fewer themes are available and therefore themes become more difficult to creatively fill. If a member is struggling to find photo opportunities, members are allowed to substitute up to 5 themes once the challenge is underway. Substitutions need to be named accordingly (example “week 49 - black (substitution) ).

members should create their own thread in this forum and title it using the term “52 in 2015”, e.g. “tracey’s awesome 52 in 2015”. The first post should be made before january 1, 2015, and include your theme list and any own personal guidelines you want to add (see sample below). The personal guidelines may be added to make it more challenging, less challenging or help you work on skills you would like to work on in 2015.

  • describe the list. (e.g.. “i’m using the nikonites 52 list” or “nikonites 52 with 9 changed themes” or “the eyelight 52”)
  • add your own personal guidelines like:
    • 1 theme per week.
    • post themes in order of the list.
    • no substitutes after jan 1.
    • no restrictions other than 52 posted photos on each theme by dec 31.
    • zoomed with my feet (all taken with the 50mm lens)
    • all flash photos (something you might do if you want to work on your flash lighting skills).

photos should be taken and published weekly preferably, however this is not always possible. Please state in your guidelines if you are doing a “strict” - one a week, every week or will be aiming for the 52 to be complete by the end of the year.

the challenge officially starts on jan 1st 2015

any questions, please ask, oh and happy shooting :)

themes to follow in the next post.

how many members feel they are still in the running to finish project 52?

I'm way behind. Way too busy at work and when I do get a chance to shoot, it's mostly birds now. I wanted to put my very best stuff in this thread and I fell short.
I may put a few more themes in there but like I said, I'm much too behind.

Family issues got in the way of mine this year. :(
I intend having a go at one next year. If you want I can post up the list and anyone can join me on a 52 in 2016 journey
