52 photos in 2015 project

Just wondering how people are going to approach this challenge. From what I have seen most people are doing the provided list in no particular order. So at the start it would be quite easy to just go out and shoot whatever then look at the list and see what category you can assign a photo under, and I'm sure that's fine, or are people going to pick a topic at the start of the week and go out and shoot with intent?
Personally I'm thinking of assigning myself topics ahead of time, say one for this week and maybe have the next two already picked, so that I can plan a little in advance. My other thought was to pick 4 topics for the month and just go out and shoot, keeping them in mind in case I found inspiration somewhere, but I don't think I'll go that way.
Of course, if I choose a topic ahead of time and in that week I happen to shoot something that is perfect for a different topic, particularly one of the obscure ones, I may be open to substituting my chosen theme for the week.
What are other peoples thoughts?

Order and frequency will be hit and miss on mine as most of my subjects are birds,it would be nice to be able to think this week its a Bullfinch but weather and season will have a lot to do with it.

.

We've picked up a couple more. I now have a total of 34 threads including this one and think I have them all tagged with: 52 in 2015, so they can all be listed by using the advanced search for the tag only.

I have 33 without this one now. I have not figured out how to tag the threads though.

Tags are located at the bottom of each thread reading window. Some tags get added mysteriously and some by users. In this case you don't need to tag any. But if you do an Advanced Search, using the tag 52 in 2015, then it will show all the threads tagged with that tag

Thanks @Eyelight, I never go that far down on the page. Ha! All for naught now as I see there is a Project 52 sub-forum. The trick is how to get all of the threads into the new sub-forum. Ha!

That's part of the Enchanted Forest sub-routines.

Wondering if this thread is moving as I type??????

Before the end of last year is the official start?! OK... guess that me out before its even started!

If you refer to guideline about starting a thread before the Jan 1, the guideline is simply that the first post should be made, but I don't think the intent was to require it before Jan1. There are many things we should do, but......

So, jump in if you like.

Introduction and Guidelines for Nikonites 52 photos in 2015

Introduction
First and foremost, this is a fun project. It shouldn't be stressful. It is aimed at stretching the imagination, and ultimately improving our images in some way. All themes can and should be stretched to the max to provide interesting and varied images of each theme.

General Guidelines

Keeping with the purpose and this being a Nikon place, the primary camera(s) used should be Nikon. Sometimes though, the right camera for the shot may be something else. That’s OK for a minimal number of photos.

We have provided a Nikonites list. It is up to the member if they want to used this list or create their own.

The themes can be tackled in any order.

As the year wears on fewer themes are available and therefore themes become more difficult to creatively fill. If a member is struggling to find photo opportunities, members are allowed to substitute up to 5 themes once the challenge is underway. Substitutions need to be named accordingly (example “week 49 - black (substitution) ).

Members should create their own thread in this forum and title it using the term “52 in 2015”, e.g. “Tracey’s Awesome 52 in 2015”. The first post should be made before January 1, 2015, and include your theme list and any own personal guidelines you want to add (see sample below). The personal guidelines may be added to make it more challenging, less challenging or help you work on skills you would like to work on in 2015.

  • Describe the list. (e.g.. “I’m using the Nikonites 52 List” or “Nikonites 52 with 9 changed themes” or “The Eyelight 52”)
  • Add your own personal Guidelines like:
    • 1 theme per week.
    • Post themes in order of the list.
    • No substitutes after Jan 1.
    • No restrictions other than 52 posted photos on each theme by Dec 31.
    • Zoomed with my feet (All taken with the 50mm lens)
    • All flash photos (something you might do if you want to work on your flash lighting skills).

Photos should be taken and published weekly preferably, however this is not always possible. Please state in your guidelines if you are doing a “strict” - one a week, every week or will be aiming for the 52 to be complete by the end of the year.

The challenge officially starts on Jan 1st 2015

Any questions, please ask, oh and happy shooting :)

Themes to follow in the next post.

hi, sorry for belated enquiry, what would be the normal way of uploading files for this project

If you are asking due to the second photo showing in your 52 thread, that usually happens when you upload 2 and delete 1 image. You can edit that post using the advance editor (just click Go Advanced), scroll down and use Manage Attachments the to delete the second "Attached" file.

As for uploading there are a few ways.

- You can use the icon at the top of the editor to open the Image Uploader and either upload from your computer or link to an image on the web.
- You can host the image on Flickr and embed the image in a post. If you use Flickr, we can add more answer for that.
- You can link to an image using img tags, explanation here: http://nikonites.com/misc.php?do=bbcode#imgcode.

Also some notes on image uploading here:New image size restrictions & instructions for inserting images hosted elsewhere

In process of obtaining Flickr , any further info appreciated

Flickr has a "Share this Photo" button that looks like a curving arrow and shows to the right when viewing a single photo.

Share Butt.JPG

Click the Share button and this dialog pops up. Select BBCode, set the size you want (red arrow) and copy the code (blue circle) and paste in your post here.

@traceyjj

I may have said this already and I may say it again (being forgetful as I am careless to be), but fine job on inspiring the 52 Projects for 2015. There is some fine photography appearing in the threads.
