52 photos in 2015 project

Oh hell, I'm in but will modify the list a little to add some of the stuff I shoot the most.

For clarification though.

Now my subject may seem to be duplicates because I shoot mostly sports. But as an example, I may shoot football through a window and could also have a football shot as an extreme category. The shots would match the theme.

Is this ok?

I find that work gets in the way of my photography, at the moment its go to work in the dark, and come home in the dark.

so not always easy to have the opportunity to take photos,

But I like a challenge, so will give the 52 in 2015 a go. will have to modify the list a little bit, to fit in around work :)

Sounds good to me.

I believe the basic idea, is a list that challenges yourself in some way. An extreme sports list might include certain shots that are hard to get, an area you want to improve, etc.

Another basic idea here is the list can be tailored to fit your time and how much you can commit, so it can be as easy or as tough as anyone wants to make it.

My goal is to use as few sports shots as I can. But when I read coil on the list, it reminded me of some wrestling shots I got that they look like a coil. So just making sure I get the gist of the challenge. I hated dropping the 365, so this should work out a little better for me. I will update a few categories to use some of my sports shots as well.

Thanks

I think that would be doable... there are a few generic themes in there... maybe you could use the "unique camera angle" in one of your sports photos. The main idea is to improve your shots, but to have fun doing it too!

Good luck to everyone doing this challenge, and for @Eyelight for helping me with the "behind the scenes stuff!

Hi All,

this suits me perfectly. I have not even considered a 365 because I spend most of my working life at 36000ft and dont get the cam in my hands as much as I would like, this however should be doable.
I will go for the standard list, and as I am a keen Infrared photographer I will be trying to get experimental with IR this year, outside of the standard foliage/landscape shots.
In addition, I plan to shoot all completely manually, even manual focus and restricting myself to just 2 lenses (yet to be decided).

Glad to be along for the ride!

Lots of "last minute" joiners, which is fantastic to see.

Heres to a year of having fun with our cameras and learning to see/improving our images :)

Decided I am going to try this one. I never did a 365 because I felt I would just shoot junk to get a photo posted. I also have had some issues lately that caused me to not get out much with a camera. But if I can play makeup when that happens I have a good shot at 52 in a year. Need to decide changes to the list before the end of the day. :p

They going to make a section for the 52 as opposed to the 365 so folks don't have to look threw both??

OK. See if this works. It's a tag search zeroed on the tag: 52 in 2015. I assume it will stay valid.

Link no worky, so went away.

Just wondering how people are going to approach this challenge. From what I have seen most people are doing the provided list in no particular order. So at the start it would be quite easy to just go out and shoot whatever then look at the list and see what category you can assign a photo under, and I'm sure that's fine, or are people going to pick a topic at the start of the week and go out and shoot with intent?
Personally I'm thinking of assigning myself topics ahead of time, say one for this week and maybe have the next two already picked, so that I can plan a little in advance. My other thought was to pick 4 topics for the month and just go out and shoot, keeping them in mind in case I found inspiration somewhere, but I don't think I'll go that way.
Of course, if I choose a topic ahead of time and in that week I happen to shoot something that is perfect for a different topic, particularly one of the obscure ones, I may be open to substituting my chosen theme for the week.
What are other peoples thoughts?

@Eyelight, I just got a message saying no matches found, or something like that. I have set up a new folder on my profile and have gone down the list looking for all 52 in 2015 threads, subscribed to them and placed them in the new folder named 52 in 2015. Not sure how it is going to work, but hey it's better than nothing. Ha!
@Anco, yes, that's how I'm going to do it. Ha! I figure I will play it by ear and hopefully get better toward the end of the year finding something for the themes left. Ha! I am going on an assumption/desire that my skills and ability to see will improve throughout the year making it easier to fill in the fewer themes left.

I have a total of 32 threads for the 52 in 2015 so far. Some who are real brave have started two different challenges for "double" trouble. Ha!
I'm sure I probably missed some, but will catch them as the year goes on.

.

I'm thinking tackle some of the tough ones early and when I have more time and shoot the easy ones when I'm pressed. Probably keep the list on my phone for inspiration. I do intend on putting some thought into each shot, and plan some to be a bit more planned and some more by opportunity.

We've picked up a couple more. I now have a total of 34 threads including this one and think I have them all tagged with: 52 in 2015, so they can all be listed by using the advanced search for the tag only.
