None of the older Nikon MF lenses meter on the D3xxx or D5xxx bodies. So every thing is manual, including flash.

Just check if the lens is an AI or AI-S.

What I do not get is the price. The new AI-S lens is around $700, so no matter how old the lens is getting it for $50 is suspicious. I checked up a few second hand dealer prices and they were all quite high.

We've long established its a 50/2 man. Easy typo/misread on anyone's part.

On-topic, one of the bazooka lenses will be nice, but I'd get fully acquainted with your current inventory and save for a 71/7200 if not like a 600 before heavily investing into glass. Trust me, nor 31 nor 7000 will make any of these lenses REALLY sing.

Well, that is the challenge. I have a nice array of manual and auto lenses now. The D7000 will be here Thursday. Nothing top of the line since my funds and my wife just will not permit it. :) After much research, and I have watched and read a lot, the only thing that should stop me from making good pics is me. I need to make these things sing. I just need to train my voice.
