50 Mil prime lens suggestions

Id like to get a 50 for the 3100 and would like to get others feedback as to what they have used

The 50mm F1.8 AF-S is moderately priced, and has the internal AF-motor that your camera requires. It's an Aspheric lens, well corrected and sharp.

I have the 1.4 which means you gain another stop. I find this very useful with my d90.

The 50 1.8g is very nice for the price. If you want to spend more for a 1.4, Sigma is releasing a new one any day now.

I have the 1.4 which means you gain another stop. I find this very useful with my d90.

1.4 is only a ¾-stop wider than 1.8.

you have 3 options more or less. much more if you dont need autofocus

-50 1.8 AFS
-50 1.4 AFS
-Sigma 50 HSM

or wait and see if the 50 1.4 ART can fit your budget.

I have the 50 1.8 AFD and if the sigma is priced within what I want to pay for a 50 then ill get it. otherwise my 50 1.8 AFD has been doing just fine.
