I was between 8th and 9th grades this month 45 years ago. Poor family, it was 1983 when I could convince my mother a Commodore VIC-20 was a good idea. If it was much higher in price than the $88 of that time I never would have it.

I took a computer programming course in junior college in 1976 and caught the computer bug, hanging around the lab creating code just for the fun of it. In 1981 I bought a Texas Instruments TI-99/4 and enjoyed the heck out of it for years thereafter. It didn't sell well and TI ended production of it, but I had no regrets. Bought our first PC in 1992, a 386.

I kind of miss those simple days of discovery and dial-up BBS groups. We had a loose-knit computer club back then that was great fun.
