I guess if you have some stuff lying around it can be done very cheaply.

I just never got around to making mine. So I bought one. I don't think I could have built one for the same price when you include the 4 different color back drops and the two lights that were included for 35.00

I visit that blog often. For me the DIY projects are best when you don't have to purchase the source material but have it lying around unused already, so all you "pay" for is the time, with the reward being a sense of accomplishment - with a side of sticking it to the man.

Not any rush for a few months yet but looking at the quality of the macro images on here i need to rethink my lighting,i have a TTL ring flash so will be looking at ways to soften the light from that.If any one has done this successfully please let me know how.

Very nice, and I love the effect. Kind of what Ice Light does (just round instead of), which I've been dreaming about for a while..
