Hi
I have a samsung 21" S-IPS monitor and I am planning to upgrade it. Do you have any recommendation? I am looking at S-IPS monitor.

Thanks

You don't give a budget. However if I was buying today, I'd get an HP Z27x Dreamcolor. 10bit color & integrated calibration. I've installed a couple of these for customers & they are superb.

In which case, see if you can stretch to the HP Z24x Dreamcolor. US$539 on Amazon.
That sounds promising. BTW, any experience or feedback on the dell ones? Also are LEDs good? If yes, do I need to keep in mind about what kind of LED? ie similar to S-IPS LCD are there any kinds that I need to keep in mind? Appreciate your help

The only difference between a regular LCD TV/monitor is the back lighting used to illuminate it. They're all LCD, but the LED ones use LED back lighting instead of fluorescent.

Acer h236lbid something like that. It's ips 23 inches and doesn't break the bank. I love mine. I use the ips pannel for my color work and my other 2 TN panels for photoshop and light room.

i recently decided to buy matched dual monitors for my post processing workstation. I had two monitors but I could never get them to match even using my spyder calibrator. i ended up buying 2 - ASUS PA248Q 24-Inch LED-Lit IPS Professional Graphics Monitors.

i have been very happy with them.

I thought TN panels are not good for PS and LR too.
Well that's a common misconception TN panels don't have as good color reproduction however they have faster response time and if you get a nice tn monitor they look beautiful.

Now go ips if you can but TN Is fine for secondary monitors.

An IPS panel is better, especially for photography work due to the color consistency across all viewing angles. In addition a wide color gamut is important as it can display more colours & more grey shades than a regular monitor.

My personal preference from seeing & installing many monitors is HP for price/performance. I myself have an Eizo, but they are difficult to source & are expensive. The Dell Ultrasharps are ok, but they have a budget "feel" to them. If I was replacing my screen tomorrow, I would buy a HP Dreamcolor, being knocked out by the quality every time I visit a customer who has one.

Those are great resources. I was wondering what can be so different between the ASUS panel I quoted to the 248Q. Both of them are IPS.
