Agreed,
LenScore tests all lenses with the same 200 MP sensor. It gives you quick data for the relative performance of a lens. For me it's enough to decide whether to wait for DxO data or not.
DxO tests lenses on specific cameras. They give you much more specific data but it takes them a lot of time.

I wish there were more independents providing this sort of data. You can't really rely on the manufacturer data since none is going to say; "Here's our latest lens, it s*cks b*lls and for 800$ it's all yours."

DxO does a fine job but I guess providing me free data doesn't make them grow fat.

Based on LenScore test data, earlier DxO data on lenses with similar LenScores and some calculations I predict that the new Nikon 20mm f/1.8 will produce approximately the following DxO data:

On a 12 MP camera: Total score 24, Image resolution 10 P-MP.
On a 24 MP camera: Total score 29, Image resolution 19 P-MP.
On a 36 MP camera: Total score 33, Image resolution 28 P-MP

I would buy one if I had an FX camera. Anyway it would complete my set of 1.8G primes. I think a 20mm on DX is usesable and of course on full frame I imagine would be great for aurora photography.

I purchased a Nikon 20mm f/1.8 based on LenScore data but without waiting for DxO to fulfill their mission. I am pleased with the lens as a use when you need the extra coverage lens. The optical compromises at this focal length are inevitable and I do not think that the Nikon 20mm f/1.8 will replace my Sigma 35mm f/1.4 as my most used lens.

I have the Df now and have a 20mm 2.8D. Its probably good enough for what I use the 20mm prime for but I think the newer one should be better optically in all respects so I'll eventually get the newer 1.8G as well.

LenScore never tested the 2.8 and DxO still has not tested the 1.8
The DxO test of the 2.8 scored 27 total and 21 P-MP sharpness on the D800E.
My estimates above for the 1.8 predicts 33 total and 28 P-MP sharpness on the same camera.
I consequently agree with you that the new 1.8 is likely to be an optically superior lens compared to the 2.8.

I saw some comparison of the two on youtube on a D600 (or D610?) and 1.8G looked quite a bit sharper. The 2.8D though is quite a bit smaller and lighter and costs less. I do think the 20mm 2.8D is good enough for me. It is pretty mushy in the corners until f5.6 but for what I use it for I think it will be okay. I might still get the 20mm 1.8G to complete the collection of 1.8G primes though, but its not on the top of my list anymore.

Well, I was thinking of selling the 20mm 2.8D and getting the 1.8G but that plan will have to wait because every authorized dealer in Canada is out of stock....

The Nikon 20mm f1.8 DxO scores are finally in. Tested on a Nikon D810 the scores are 33 overall, 25 P-MP sharpness.

I was checking it but I'll still have to wait until all data is uploaded to DxO and I can check the D610 version. She's pretty good from what I see now. I'm surprised that after all this time there's still no D750 sensor at DxO to pick for comparisons.

This lens is impossible to find in Canada from an AD. I called several and they are backordered and could not give me any idea when they would be back in stock.
