Hi, took this shoot this afternoon in a park. CC welcome and appreciated. Especially on how to improve. Thank you

Beautiful colors and a very nice photo. I can't see that anything should be different. You might want to play around with the cropping a little and see how you like the groupings. For example, The group is split right in the middle of the picture: the fish are in the top half and the lillies in the bottom. Try cropping so that maybe the lillies are in the lower 2/3 and a couple of fish in the upper third. That to me would seem a more pleasing composition. Or the other way, the fish in the upper 2/3 and a few plants in the lower third. There's almost too much in the photo, even though your subjects are beautiful.

Just my thoughts.

Thank you for your feedback. I didn't think of that. Agree, the rule of 3rd is very basic and yet I just dont remember to apply

It's not so much a rule of thirds as it is not "cutting the picture in half". Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. In your photo, you just need to decide if it's "plants with some fish" or "lots of fish accessorized with plants. :) In any case, it is a very nice capture of a beautiful water garden! Good job!

I have to agree with Helene. At first I didn't know what to focus on...........the fish or the plants. I couldn't decide what you were taking a picture of. Cropping would benefit this shot and make it more pleasing to look at.

That is always the problem with novices like me. Trying to be greedy and having both worlds in the same picture. I like the lily but thought the. Fishes would supplement the picture. I also thought having the lily in the foreground will gives some 'depth' feel of the pond.

Should have cut down on one subject or angle it differently.
