1DX VS D4s

Thanks for the reply mate.Numbers are great but they dont tell you everything. Both the d810 and d750 beat the d4/s and 1dx according to numbers on this site.
But these cameras are over twice as expensive as a d810 and around 3 times the price of a d750.Something doesnt add up here for me.I doubt its just the FPS you're getting,im sure the higher iso capabilities of the pro body is accounted for in the price. But there must be more to it than that.
The 5d3 has the same AF system ON PAPER as the 1dx.But in reality the 1dxs system is better(from what i've read).
ON PAPER the d810 and d4s has the same AF system,id be surprised(and bummed if i bought one) if the d4s doesnt have a better af system and if nikon doesn't have their flagship camera having the top AF system(these are sports/wildlife/pap cameras...stuff thats moving basically) then it may not be worth the cost.
Id bet the d4s has the best dslr low light performance currently and that includes the 1dx.But i feel the canon may be ahead on af....haven't tried either though...just going on what i've read.

In what regard is this a non-Nikon discussion? After all, he is talking about a D4s....
I'm wasn't insinuating it was. I was just making a point that there have become more and more discussions about gear not related to the Nikon name. I don't really care. Just thought I would give my 2 cents. I am all for learning about third party accessories but as far as Canon or the other camera brands go. I don't own them so I really don't care to know much about them. Having said that I do not think of them as inferior to Nikon, just not my interest.

At the end of the day we all just want to take good pics and use the best gear we can.
I love Nikon and how the cameras workOn saying that however,I would not "lock" myself into a brand due to some brand loyalty idea....if canon came out with something I liked and was clearly better than the nikon equivalent at the same price and I didn't have thousands invested in good nikon glass then I would have no issue in trying that out.
If I had a lot invested in nikon glass then I'd use what I had at that time until Nikon beat it.
Is this a bit strange to think like this or am I talking sense here?

This is the non Nikon section of the forum mate.
It's the section that allows talk about other brands and how they compare to our Nikon kit.
If there are more and more discussions about canon or other brand gear then there may be some good reason for that....in the APsc world Nikon are lacking in an area focused on moving subjects,d7100 small buffer and slow.
7d mkii has infinite JPEG and 10 fps.
You cannot blame anyone being interested in this type of kit.
Nikon please match the 7d 2 with your next 7000 series or 9000 series cam.
Give people what they want and keep them in the brand

Now, why would you want the 4s/1x in the first place when you already have the 810 and not that much glass? What can't the 810 keep up with and how much do you make off of shooting to merit the top-of-the-line body? I'd say some really good glass would be a better investment with such a capable body already in your hands. Not having much glass, but already being nice 3k into a system IMO is an investment enough to merit sticking with it.

Well thats how it started. Then it all got a little heated and in the end it was all fine lol:p.
Really i would like another body.A faster body with better autofocus. But maybe some faster lenses will be the answer.
Is the d400 rumoured?

I think you're absolutely right mate.I don't make money from photography....at least not yet:).I like my d810 and was looking at a 1dx or d4s as a 2nd body but when i think about it,a 70-200 vr ii and either 300 2.8 vr ii or the new 300 f4 vr would be great.
As far as sticking with it.....Nikon that is....i'd be happier overall than buying another brand and having to learn a different system.
Knowing all your buttons and being able to change things quickly is great.Learning a Canon system doesn't appeal to me too much.

Just a bit! :)

I wish it came out tomorrow and was compatible with the MB-D10 and all the D300/D700 accessories I currently own!

@murphc13 suggest you put your current kit in your signature and your current camera under your handle, helps folks around here get to know you better and better understand your questions IMHO.

I think the new 300 F/4 VR is gonna be awesome, wish it was in my budget range.....I am gonna grab a current non VR one when the prices drop a little more. I also will eventually own a D3 or D3s any MP greater than that is of no interest to me......not interested in upgrading my 2 computers and 12/16 MP is perfect for what I want to do.

Welcome to Nikonites!

Say 300/2.8 + TC-20III could be a really killer kinda setup. Also, why a 2nd body? You could well get say, a Df or the 750 to expand your horizon without putting that extra 2.5k into features you'll likely never use.

If just looking for a new toy how about a nice mint 300s for a 1.5 field of view with pretty much the exact layout? Then a bunch of new glass!!

ive read the 300 2.8 ve iI takes tcs very well.I think I'll opt for that.
After seeing a video on YouTube with a d800 paired with a 300 2.8 and tc 1.4,the guy compared the 1.5 crop mode and was sharper than the tc combo.
The 300 2.8 should be outstanding, and paired with the 2x tc,will be versatile for sports and birding.
Id like a second body for those situations where I can't change lenses so quickly....and it'll give my gf something to do instead of complaining:p

Haha. Realistically though, if you're say birding/other critters, even insects, you'll want that 600 reach full-time.

If you fill out your profile and add the camera gear we can better answer any questions that you might have.
You can do that at http://nikonites.com/profile.php?do=editprofile

Under camera just put the model number like DXXX; Once you put the first letter like D you will see a list of all the cameras in the database pop up. The more numbers you put in the smaller the list becomes. When you see your camera just click on it, Be sure to click on "Save Changes" in the lower right corner.

Thanks

I have a friend that I go shooting with and flying with recently. His backpack carries $40,000 worth of gear all Canon and we were talking the last time we were out and he was looking at Nikon now. He doesn't really have a budget though like most of us do. I think many of us get hung up on brands to much. I am sure the vast majority of cameras made today will take great photos or at least as good as the photographer handling are able to muster. I really do think the weakest link is the person holding the camera. Use what you can afford and what make you happy.

I can afford a D810 or even a D4s but my D7100 makes me happy and shoots as good a photo as I want.

Now keep your grubby hands off my Nikons. LOL
