18-55 DX VR II - nice design update!

Got to see one in person the other day after noticing it online and in N-Photo hand-in-hand with D3300 and I must say, it's probably the best basic kit for the lower end crops across the market as far as design goes.

Internal focus? Yes! Retractable for proper compactness? Yes!

Else it still is, what it always was.

It is quite good. You can peruse the images in my thread under wide angle lenses.

Yeah I have looked at the lens, and I love how compact it can get. Roughly the size of a 35mm 1.8dx lens.

I've considered picking one up because I find that particular focal-range on a DX to be *really* handy. The updated VR functionality totally sweetens the deal.

Make it an f/1.8, or f/2.8 constant aperture (ZOMG!)... Then it would be just about perfect.

That is why I just picked up the 35mm F1.8G DX lense.
