That looks like it would fit the bill nicely! At the moment I couldn't justify the price tag unfortunately. My birthday is in a little over a week and if I've not been lucky enough to get the 35mm 1.8G I'll treat myself and buy one. I think I'll learn more with that anyway and can let my feet do the walking. If I need wider I've always got my kit lens and it should compliment my 70-300mm well enough. Already found this to be quite a nice lens for portraits and wildlife.

Looks like a nice lens but am I right in saying that it wouldn't auto focus on my D3200?
The 16-85 should focus on all Nikon dslr's because it has it!s own built in AF motor. This lens is the dx eqivalant of the fx 24-120 lens "street sweeper " lens so highly regarded by photojournalists for street photography since it covered about every focal length they generally needed.
