thanks for the reply. I think the 750 and 850 must be a bit different. I have found out how to focus using touch screen now so all seems to be good. Still trying to sort out other ways to do it. I am set to AF on both camera and lens.

Just managed to solve the preview/exposure question so just down to the focussing now.
