    Slide to Digital Images

I have tried many different ways to photograph slides. The one that I finally got to work well is the one in the picture. The camera (Z6) is on a tripod pointed down at a white paper that is illuminated. The lens I used is a 60 mm macro (F-mount) where I have mounted a slide holder on the front...

    Different size picture

I tried to replicate what I think you mean, assuming that you are working with a mirrorless camera, I put my camera on a tripod, zoomed in the lens so I had one tree to the left and a corner of a house to the right. I made this with the monitor. When I looked in the EVF I saw the exact same...

How to stack multiple portable hard drives

When HDD's are mounted in RAID racks they are placed on their side. I guess that inside the case there's an ordinary HDD. I f you have SSD, they don't care what side that is up or down.

How to stack multiple portable hard drives

You can tilt the whole package and place it on it's side. That will improve the cooling a lot.

Constant dust issue with the ZFc

I have had a Z6 for six years and a Z6iii for one year, and only once I have had my sensor cleaned. I only have Nikon lenses so I do not know anything about how OEM lenses work. Possibly when zooming in and out the air goes via the camera house, but I have never thought of that before. Sometimes...

    Z6III Automatic Sensor Cleaning

When I do a manual activation of cleaning the sensor on my Z6iii, it shows "Ready" after a fraction of a second. No sound can be heard. When I activate automatic cleaning and shut down the camera, it probably do a cleaning so quick that you don't notice it. When I had the Z6(i) it took a couple...

    GPS

What you are referring to (I think) is that the GPS need some data from the satellites before it can compile the position. Those data doesn't last for more than a couple of month at a time. The file is downloaded automatically when you start the GPS receiver. So if you haven't used your GPS for...

Time Change - Spring Forward 2026

In Europe (EU at least) we are not changing to summertime until March 29th. I don't understand why we even switch between winter- and summertime, it could be the same time all year round.

A8 Limit AF Area Mode Not Working

Not much that is addressed in the manual. You have to look in the reference manual (appr 968 pages). But still this doesn't explain how to do everything. You have to search youtube for what you want to do, there's loads of guides that you can find there.

Restore DISP button to default function

I was reading from Nikon reference manual, which referred to a previous version of the firmware. When I check on my camera Z6iii the Custom Setting has moved to d20 and d21, where you can check/uncheck alternatives for the display and EVF. If only alternative 5 is checked you will get the...

The default function for the DISP button is to cycle the shooting display. The items displayed can be selected using Custom Setting d19. To assign DISP button to default function, select f2 and find DISP. From there you can choose DISP in the menu, and you're back to square one.

    CF Express card

Someone may be wondering if I managed to get a DIY CFExpress card up and running all the way from camera to computer. The card worked fine in the camera but my computer didn't want to recognize it, neither with a card reader, nor with the camera connected directly, nor with the Finder or with...

    Z5 ii Battery Consumption

New batteries has to go thru a number of charge - discharge cycles before they reach full capacity. Discharge the battery quite a bit, before charging it again. As mentioned above, it is recommended to buy a backup. I have two batteries which I switch between.
