    Wi-fi questions

One of my great joys is my living room camera. Yes, a camera that basically stays in the living/dining room and is used to capture the things my wife cooks, the dog being upside-down and throwing his toys, or my kids doing what kids do. The current camera is a D5100. Lovely camera, great images...

Idiots guide to getting your gear stolen

People steal stuff everywhere, even Iowa. I was out shooting at a State Park yesterday and somehow lost a small amount of photo gear. I initially thought I had left the items out and drove away w/o them - and they were gone by the time I returned - but I have a photo that seems to indicate...

Post your favourite shot taken in November 2015.

One of the few great decisions I've made in life was to ask this pretty girl out, about 15 years ago. She who became my wife. I didn't think too much about it then, but over the years, I realized I had more than found my soulmate; I found my soulmate and she cooks! She doesn't just cook, she...

    Post your latest purchases.

Upgraded my MFT camera to the EM-1. It was insanely on sale at Amazon on Sunday for $999 and I can't resist a good deal. Even if I can't afford it. :)

Share your Craigslist "Thanks but no thanks!" encounters. :)

Yesterday I ventured into my first ever Craigslist purchase attempt. It wasn't for photographic gear, it was for a boat, but I have read of similar photo-related encounters where you meet with the guy and it's not at ALL what the ad indicated. In my case the ad said "Runs GREAT!" but when I got...

If you'll excuse an old Minolta film camera image, I'll share this rear view of a bronze beauty. From the Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha Nebraska.

Canon Factory Service - run by boobs?

I recently sent a Canon 1Ds Mk III in for service. That was the only thing that went right - it got there. I suspected a failing shutter so I wanted to know what the shutter count was before authorizing repair. First thing I get from Canon is an email saying they got it. Ok, good. I get a...

Post your recent 35mm film pictures here!

A trio of portraits with Nikon F6, Kodak Portra160 film. This film is such a joy to shoot and get printed, and a &**&^%$%@!!'ing BITCH to scan. I spent a full hour last night trying to get this roll somewhat right. The prints are gorgeous; my scans, not so.

Is it worth loading a roll of film into them?

My father died when I was but five, and one of the things he left behind were Kodachrome (and lesser, crappier) slides. At about 8 years old I started to look at the slides, wonder about them and the people and places, and gradually became interested in photography myself. I took the photography...

    High ISO on D300

I had my D300 at an indoor event yesterday. Here's a shot at 4000. I think it all depends on the subject, but certainly, you can get decent enough shots with the D300 at higher ISOs
