    Focus Shift Shooting With D850

No, not dumb, most of the time it is something simple that we overlook. I had checked that one though. And I had it set to A. I did find one thing set wrong I was still in AF-C instead of AF-S. I had gone out to try to get some photos of some short eared owls and had left it on AF-C. I decided...

    Focus Shift Shooting With D850

So Andy got me a D850 for Christmas and I finally had a little time to play with the focus shift shooting. Sometimes it works sort of and sometimes it doesn't. I have it set to AF-S, F5.6, 30 shots, 1 Step interval, because I am trying to do a table top for the weekly photo contest, 2 second...

    Robin's Life Birds

This is a Dark Eyed Junco. We have many of these who visit our feeder. The 4th photo is of a female the rest are the male. The female has more brown on her than the male.

This is a White Breasted Nuthatch. The last photo is a composite of 2 photos taken within a second of each other. I merged them to have both birds in focus. It was featured on the Wingscapes Facebook page. They produce automatic feeders. My son had bought me one 2 years ago for Christmas...

    Robin's Life Birds

This is a Blue-Grey Gnatcatcher. I have other pictures but somehow over the course of the year I lost a bunch of photos and these were the only two of this little bird I could find. Guess I will have to go get more.

    Robin's Life Birds

The first photo is the first photo of any Kestrel I have ever taken. I took it with my first camera, a Nikon D3500. I think it is still the best photo I have of a Kestrel. They are so wary.

    Dominique’s old stones (mostly)

I really like this one, it just draws your eyes to the center and makes you want to look at the rest of it.

A Peregrine Falcon. This was a total surprise, it was just getting light and I thought I was taking a picture of a Kestrel. When I adjusted the lighting in Lightroom I found out it was a Peregrine Falcon. It is the first one seen in Oldham County, where I live, that I know of.

I am always amazed at the craftsmanship and precision of our ancestors who did not have power tools. Those arches are incredible!
