    It is usually very dry from mid-June on through summer. Even cattails normally get fairly brown in July from the heat and receding waterline.

    The best field ornithologists in the area believe it is an unusually marked Snowy Egret. I think some people wanted it to be an unusual bird for our area and were looking with hopeful eyes. :) @hark @Marilynne

    There has been a controversy amongst our local birding population about this bird. Some think it is a juvenile Little Blue Heron that is way north of its normal range here in Colorado. Others think that it is a juvenile Snowy Egret with slightly unusual markings. I'm in the Snowy Egret camp...
