Thanks, Robin. No TC, but a lot of time standing or sitting quietly. The ducks move away when I arrive, but slowly get used to me. There are enough people in the area that hey are somewhat used to human presence, too.
A group of Bluejays were harassing this Great Horned Owl this morning. The owl has a nest site nearby, so she's not going anywhere no matter how much the Bluejays might wish she would leave.
"Um, excuse me, but that's my crawdad. I caught it fair and square." The Merganser tried a couple of times to take the crawdad back, but was not successful.
A Crow took this crawdad away from a gull who had stolen it from a Merganser who caught it in the first place. Thievery is very common in the bird world.
In the US there are independent repair places that can sometimes find the parts and will fix older cameras. Maybe there are similar shops down under? You could look for a used D300S to use for parts, as well, although you might as well use the newly acquired camera in that case. :) Frustrating...
