There is certainly no problem with continuing what you have done and look for opportunities. You have all the time in the world to find subjects that bring out your best effort. It's not only about what you find interesting. If that were the case, I would be taking a lot of art-nude sets. But...

Another thing to look for, but unsure if it's on the Z5: Modelling light. Some cameras have that available. A ring light attached could also be blocking a modeling light on camera body.

I suspect it will be solved in the setup menu. Three things come to my mind is focus-assist light (may only be a thing with autofocus), EVF (there is something that displays as being exposed or auto brightness), or maybe try auto-ISO on.

With 3rd party batteries, problems usually will be the control circuit built-in to the battery pack. The cells may be fine, but they don't get charged right because of faulty logic on the control.

PC is searching for a good Internet connection and the D850 does not provide that. PC then will disconnect. The fix is on the computer end, not really the camera.
