I think any camera can take a macro and depending on the user can take very good macros. Sure DOF will suffer at times but that is where composition comes in if you can keep the detail on the part/s you want then it makes a photo. Sure you can focus stack but this can be time consuming and...

My local Whistling Kite.

My Whistling kite in its favourite tree. This was taken with the D800E 150-600 and fading light, if you look at the EXIF the ISO is at 5000 and S/Speed down to 1/500sec at f/7.1. This is slightly cropped into portrait orientation with no sharpening or noise reduction.

Froggy tonight, its quite buggy tonight.
