Impressions of the new Nikon D7500

Re: Initial impressions of the new Nikon D7500 I don't know what you mean with "subframe" here. The D750 is through and through plastic, as the broken off mount demonstrates. The most important part of the body is the mirror box and everything else is built onto it. The D750 has some cosmetic...

    The meaning of D7500

After pondering about the feature mix that Nikon decided on the D7500, I have made two conclusions. First, the dropping the AI-indexing tab, battery grip and and the second card slot seems to mean that there will be a successor to the D500. There needs to be one DX body fitted with all the...

    Last Camera Syndrome?

The four year upgrade cycle has been good to me. By the time the new models come out the old ones are getting a bit long in the tooth. Currently waiting for D5S next year and a little bit excited about a the D5X rumors :). My D3X has seen a lot of action lately since there was no D4X...

    When to use a teleconverter?

For those who just want a quick glance without looking at the full-res full-size images, here are the center crops from No-TC image at 200 mm and TC34 image at 680 mm. It is easy to see the TC34 image resolves all the fine lines all the way up to the "20" mark, whereas the cropped No-TC image...

    When to use a teleconverter?

When to use teleconverter and when not to? The easy answer is "it depends." Some people claim that a teleconverter destroys lens resolution and that cropping an image instead is often the better option. Some say that adding a good quality teleconverter is often better than cropping. Which is...

    Post your Photographing the photographer.

I don't have a clue what's going on here. Did he pop a glass eye? Or Sauron's glass eye? Or his lens' front element? LOL. D3X + 70-200VR + TC17E @340mm.

An old cotton mill turned into a mall

A couple of two-shot "panoramas" with a Samyang 8mm f/3.5 fish on D3X. The lens cannot render a full circular image on full frame, but taking one shot in landscape orientation and another in portrait, it is easy to combine them to make the full circular image. Interior view And outside

    All D4 users croaked?

What happened in this subforum? Last post in August 2016. Are the D4 series users busy shooting, or have they all croaked, or updated to D5? Am i the only one left? :( I'll get D5S when it comes out, probably about this time next year. Until then I'll keep on banging my D4S.

    USB socket

@norman1312: the execution of that file is a bit misleading process. It gives no signal that anything at all has happened. All it does is it extracts the D7200Update folder from the .exe which is just an archive. Look into the same folder where you have the .exe and there will be a D7200Update...

Subtle soft focus with Defocus Control

Here's my daughter today with the ancient D1X and AF 135/2 DC. The soft focus effect is achieved by shooting at f/2 with DC set to R=2.8. The last image is plain vanilla f/2.8 with DC set to neutral.
