took few pictures at night time , !!! ( need improvement with your comments ) !!!

The first one is kind of an interesting light painting, but I find the background (boxes?) distracting. The second has too much dark area and the most interesting part (the butterfly) is too small to be noticed. The third is the better of the three, but could do with some cropping to adjust...

Anyone here ever attend a Scott Kelby course?

I'm a fan of his Lightroom and PSE books and I see he's doing a one day seminar in Philly in April. I love Philly and just the excuse to go there and grab lunch at Reading Terminal Market is enough. For $89 and the price of gas I expect that I'm bound to pick up more than a few things. But...

    Cheap, DIY lens calibration tool

I love my SpyderLensCal, but sure wish I'd seen this first. Brilliant. Here's GhettoCal!! The “GhettoCAL” my DIY lens calibration tool for micro adjustment enabled DSLR cameras ‹ The Parallax Effect

some photos of gig last night

Just messing with the JPG, I lightened the image and did a B&W conversion using the method described in my blog post using multiple hue/saturation layers (top photo). Then on the bottom image I messed with that just a bit using the Grain filter in Elements 9 (don't have access to my Mac w/...

    More D7100 Images

This was jsut on Nikon Rumors. Hopefully your browser translates, but there is an interesting side-by-side images comparing the D7100 to the D7000 and I have to say, it's impressive. Just one, but it's a start. g2013”NŒ^ DXƒtƒH[ƒ}ƒbƒg‹@h‚Æ‚µ‚Äi‰»‚µ‚½ƒ~ƒhƒ‹ƒNƒ‰ƒX\\ƒjƒRƒ“uD7100v (1/5) -...

somone help me to solve this out, Nikon d3100 Pictures,

I haven't used ViewNX in a while, but I remember the first time I used the Adobe Camera RAW module in PS Elements and I was blown away by the additional control I had over the image. Then, with Lightroom my ability to work the image grew even greater. There are two parts to photography...

Flickr linked photos not showing up

Is anyone else having issues seeing photos linked in threads from Flickr? The seem to either be intermittent or do not show up at all. Here is one thread where I should be able to see a photo but cannot...

Not everyone is a Nikon Nerd

Was out and about today and stopped in Clinton, NJ to take some photos of their famous mill in the snow, as had several other photographers. One of them had a D800, which is what I was shooting with, and as I past him I made the comment, "Nice camera". He ignored me and it wasn't until I made...

HDR in Black and white background

Hmmmm. Blue is a little too deep and I'll like it to be a little better defined against the background. I'd personally try removing the color cast on the glass, and maybe brighten it up a touch.

    Adobe Bridge vs. Lightroom

I'm just digging into CS6 and a lot of the videos I am watching use Bridge as the go-between for the various pieces of the suite. But the more I look into it the more Bridge seems to look and act like Lightroom, and it seems that it's pretty much a choice one needs to make between the two since...

The Backdoor Hippie's Ranchopalooza of Inconsistently Posted Images - 2013 Version

It's at Rte's 57 & 519 just outside of Phillipsburg, NJ. As you can see in the attached Google Maps image, there's a building just off the road that had to serve as a farm stand of sorts at some point, which is why I was somewhat amazed to find an old TV and this chair in there. I'm guessing...

The Backdoor Hippie's Ranchopalooza of Inconsistently Posted Images - 2013 Version

Regular photographers must use back door. (I need to make a sign for that!!) I don't have the ability to commit to a 365, and I don't feel like dumping my occasional stuff into other people's threads, so I'll use this to stick all my non-HDR stuff - and probably the occasional HDR image...

The new phonebook's here!! The new phonebook's here!!

Things are going to start happening to me now!! As cruelty was visited on Navin R. Johnson, my new D800 arrived on the last possible UPS truck yesterday, after I had completed the errand I needed to run to a little town along the Delaware (I had to shoot with my D600 instead). It's...

Night photography and orange hue from street lights

And here's another quick edit (literally 20 seconds) using the White Neutralizer filter from Nik's Color Efex Pro 4. Thought I might need to use negative control points for the sky but nope. A second filter application could eliminate the remaining cast. (oops - wrong file first time)

    D7100 Sample Images

For the curious, Nikon France has D7100 samples up on Flickr, with viewable/downloadable 6000x4000 jpgs. Nikon D7100 - a set on Flickr Nice, but I don't know that I'm blown away. Definitely doesn't touch the IQ of an FX, but it's at least as good as the D7000 with perhaps a little better...

    Gloves?!

Winter is almost over, so it may be a little late to ask, but does anyone have any recommendations for gloves that will allow you to retain some feel for the camera (i.e. allow you to get to those buttons and switches by feel while you're looking through the viewfinder) while also protecting...

Nikon Rumors says D7100 is not positioned to replace the D300

I posted links to this in the other threads where I'm talking about buying and then not buying a D7100, but thought it might be easier to post a separate thread about it. Good news for the Nikon DX world, though as the Nikon response states, there are no guarantees or timelines for a D300...

D7100 buffer size - it will fill in one second?!

Interesting review from nature photographer Jason Odell. In it he manages to expose something that I looked for and couldn't find - one of the things I was sure Nikon would make sure they didn't let happen... Frame Buffer: Ok, I had to dig around to find this, as it isn’t on Nikon USA’s...

    Nikon acknowledges dust issue!

I do have to say that as I processed my shots from yesterday I did get more than a little disgusted with the dust thing. I blew off the sensor prior to going out yesterday. Put my new 16-35mm on and did not take it off all day. Here's the top portion of a pair of shots taken yesterday, HDR...

    Urban Exploration (Urbex)

Anyone here venture into the world of urban exploration? I've been absolutely fascinated by some of the photos I've seen on 500px in that category and am feeling a compulsion to give it a try. My biggest stumbling block is that my location gives me far more opportunity to do Rural Exploration...
