It's sugarcane harvest around our area at the moment and after the cane is cut, and the remains made into mulch hay, the farmers burn off the remains & stubble. Caught a field burning off as we were driving across to the beach today
Trying to find a spot with some long grass so I can get...
210/365....wish me luck as you wave me goodbye
A juvenile humpback whale heading south after the long migration north for breeding. They stop to take a breather off the coast here (Gold Coast, Qld) both on the way north and then on the way back south. We went on a whale watch tour. It was warm...
They are what they called "split screen" or "safari" windows, and were on Kombi's from the 60's. It was fully restored believe it or not. The paint job was cleverly done to look like it was all rusty. It is a single cab and had a Fiat 500 in the back
206/365....snake eyes
I think it's a young red-bellied black snake. Very unusual to see them in winter. I had to tickle him with a grass stalk to get him to shift so I could see his head. Just as well he was docile as they are venomous, although not deadly :D
a couple of other recent shots.......
When I was doing the shot with drinking straws for 202/365 days I took this one. I love the colour
Up on the headland today I had another go at BIF and got this one which I think is pretty good. Normally the birds don't come in close enough to fill the...
203/365.....off Fingal Head
One of my fave spots on the coast. Sat today and watched a humpback whale (thru binoculars) tail thumping and breaching. We usually also see dolphins, but today I think was a little too rough in close to the headland for them. It's just a lovely spot and the sky was...
OK...I seem to have inadvertently changed some setting that controls the focal point.
In autofocus, if I hold the button half way down, the focal point jumps all about. It has never done this before. So what might I have changed do you think?
It's just that I find it a bit disconcerting.
197/365......cane harvest in full swing
I live in a cane growing area and July to December is cane harvesting time, so there is a lot of canefield burning and machinery moving about. It is not so easy to get shots tho unless they are harvesting fields that are on the roadside, like this one. Got...
